OUR STORY

We invite you in! Into our memories and lessons learned.  We  aren't welcoming you because this is fun or easy, but instead we want to share our story as  encouragement for your path.

When our daughter was born we were told after several tests, she was deaf.  The fear, pain and uncertainty became thick and paralyzing.  As her mother, I heard the diagnosis but also knew what I saw.  I saw a baby that responded to me and trusted that feeling more than the external voices.

We took Maddie home and despite numerous phone calls from the hospital and efforts to perform invasive procedures, we kept her home.  We prayed and anointed her ears with oil for a year before taking her back to be reevaluated.  When we took her back the diagnosis was changed to minimal hearing loss.  This new conclusion was one that resonated with us and aligned with the truth we believed.

From that moment on we would try out hearing equipment until we found something that worked for her.  Next we began the process of locating speech and hearing services to support her educational progress.  We also began the endless rotations of medical appointments that we still attend to this day.

Fast Forward to our 8 year old author that is hearing, talking, and functioning above grade level.

This has been a rough yet rewarding journey.  As a family we have looked fear in the face and said "beat it buddy!"  On our blog page we have listed the ebs and flows of our emotions, limited knowledge, and self imposed  paranoia as well as our victories, epiphanies, and internal wins. #MaddiesWorld
